Is this serum, infused with Vitamin B3, Tea Tree Extract, and Vitamin E truly an “elixir to clearer and fairer skin?”

SooperBeaute is a local skincare and makeup brand endorsed by the likes of Sofia Andres (@iamsofiaandres), Gela Munoz (@thegelabeef), and Brylley (@happybrylley) and very popular on Instagram. The products range from astringents, brightening cream, and serums like this one to a healthy-skin foundation, BB cream, primer, and lip tints, lip creams, and lipsticks! Recently they even came out with a brow- and eye-liner-in-one!
Key ingredients and claims
Vitamin B3 or Niacinamide: Perhaps better known as the latter name, vitamin B3 is a multitasker skincare ingredient, targetting wrinkles, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, and acne! It also replenishes moisture content on the skin's surface, encouraging keratin and ceramide production. It also possesses anti-inflammatory properties and balances oil production. In short, it is a skin-plumping and skin-healing vitamin.
Tea Tree Extract: This is a buzz word for anyone with acne!
Tea tree extract has been found to be just as effective an acne treatment as benzoyl peroxide, sans redness and peeling. It's an excellent natural antiseptic, making it perfect for those struggling with pimples and redness caused by skin irritations.
Vitamin E is a basic antioxidant, protecting skin from free radicals and sun damage. In addition, it's hydrating and is also an anti-inflammatory so it's great for skin that needs some soothing and calming. Dermatologists recommend it as a replacement for skin-brightening creams, and it is moisturizing enough to use on dry, brittle hair.
That said, this product is not alcohol- nor fragrance-free.
Despite that, I did not find this drying to my skin.

Cute dropper packaging
The product is contained in a 15mL glass bottle with a simple dropper. It’s very easy to use, closes firmly, and I never have trouble dispensing what I need from the dropped. The only downside is that it is prone to breakage because it is a glass bottle, but its size is definitely travel-friendly. Just make sure to secure it well.

How did it work for me?
I did not have good initial impressions of this product. Upon application, it seemed to sting my face which I did NOT expect from a serum. However, later I realized that it was because my skin at the time was irritated from slight over-exfoliation and clay-masking too often. After giving my skin almost two weeks of rest, I tried it again and there was no sting, save for some very slight tingling on my soon-to-be breakouts at the time. I took it as a sign that the active ingredients were simply doing their job on those young pimples.
Over time, I shifted from applying this all over my face to just focusing on active breakouts, upcoming bumps, or otherwise reddened or irritated areas of my face. I found that when applied on very “young” breakouts – you know, when you feel some bumps or even an itch underneath your skin but know it won’t turn into a full-blown pimple for another few days – it actually helps keep them from reaching “full growth!” In that, it works as a good spot treatment (though I have not tried this on cystic acne).
In terms of consistency, it is blue in color and it’s almost watery, thus it’s very quick-absorbing and easy to layer between other essences or serums. I apply this after toner and before a heavier essence, day and night. It is however fragranced, so this is not for those with very sensitive noses. That said, the scent is pleasant, fruity and almost watermelon-like, and it does not linger.

Its ability to soothe pimples even before they emerge reminds me of the Snowberry Sleeping Cream Mask of another local brand, Skin Potions, except this Beautiful Skin Serum is easier to fit into any order of your skincare routine.
More than an ordinary serum, this can actually be considered a spot-control serum! At P189 per bottle, I’d say it’s a good buy for anyone with acne-prone skin.
Will I repurchase?
This was sent to me for review by SooperBeaute, and I am happy to say I would definitely order my own bottle. I feel this is a great daytime spot treatment because it absorbs so quickly and at the same time hydrates skin. At the price, it’s a good decision as any to buy two bottles at a time!
This soothed my pimples, alleviated redness, and facilitated healing of pimple scars (in that order), hence my recommendation of this as a spot treatment or overall face serum.
Overall Rating: 4.1 out of 5 Stars
Packaging/Applicator (4.5 stars): The bottle is sturdy and closes firmly, and its small size makes it travel-friendly; however, because it is a glass bottle, it is prone to breakage and poses a risk if you’re going to be carrying it along.
Ingredients (3.5 stars): Niacinamide, tea tree extract, and the antioxidant vitamin E are great key ingredients, but I noticed that they show up towards the END of the ingredients list, which also contains alcohols and fragrance. However, I still experienced the supposed effects of the three ingredients so I guess it still contains good proportions of them. I do wish they could remove the fragrance to make it more sensitive skin-friendly, and perhaps lower the alcohol contents.
Suitability with other products (4 stars): Like I said, this layers perfectly in between other skincare products BUT I would be wary of using it on skin that has been exfoliated, clay-masked, or exposed to acids/actives. It absorbs great and does not interfere with other products, but I advise against using this at the same time as the aforementioned types of products or on dry/irritated skin.
Delivery of claims (3.5): This serum worked on me – on pimples and pimples scars – fulfilling its main claim of “clearer and fairer skin,” albeit not drastically in terms of fairer skin. I give it four stars for helping to clear my skin and speed up healing of breakouts, but I did not notice effects so significant that I would consider this a serum for fairer skin.
Affordability and accessibility (5 stars): I consider P189 for 15mL or P12.6/mL considering the potency of this serum; how it’s used (again, it’s great as a spot-control serum so you don’t have to apply to the entire face); and it’s very accessible seeing as SooperBeaute ships nationwide, is on BeautyMNL, and also has physical stores or resellers available. They have good customer services and respond in a timely manner, making ordering from them very easy.
