"Beauty inside bamboo?" Read on for my thoughts on this Korean bamboo-infused face mist, which also contains centella asiatica, green tea, honey, aloe vera, and lavender to hydrate, soothe, nourish, and bring back that glow to your skin!

Da Mior is a high-end Korean skincare brand featuring bamboo extract, and for good reason: bamboo in skincare acts as an antioxidant; moisturizes and heals skin and acts as an anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant; improves skin texture; helps protect skin from free radicals in sunlight; lightens dark spots by reducing melanin production; and helps in anti-aging with its silica and collagen content.

Thus, bamboo-based skincare is surely enough for an entire brand to build their products on!

Tree sap is packed with skin vitamins, antioxidants, and amino acids

"'Raw bamboo sap mimics natural moisturizing factors found in your skin,' says Sarah Lee, co-founder of Korean beauty e-tailer Glow Recipe. Meaning it's deeply nourishing as a skin care ingredient. And there's a bonus: Bamboo is also super-sustainable, so you're not only doing something good for your skin, but also for the earth." (Glamour.com)

This product's unique claims are being "the ultimate moisturizer" and making skin "illuminate." It also works as a makeup-fixing spray by keeping the finish of makeup radiant, glowy, and natural, but I have been using it primarily as a toner. It is recommended for normal to dry skin, but for reference, I have combination to oily and acne-prone skin with texture issues due to a severe breakout in mid- to late 2017.

Impressive ingredients list

Aside from the brand's skin ingredient, bamboo extract (which as you can see above is 4th on the ingredients list), this face mist also contains high proportions of centella asiatica, green tea, and honey, which all work to deeply hydrate, soothe, moisturize, and restore the skin's moisture barrier while reducing inflammation. The rest of the list is littered with other fruit and root extracts, like aloe vera and lavender, which even outnumber the more synthetic components.

However, this is not alcohol-free, with ethanol being third on the list. Despite this, it remains a very moisturizing and non-drying face mist and I have been applying two to three layers of this mist twice a day with no problems or adverse reactions. In fact, it is extremely soothing and I can personally attest to its healing power on my current and past breakouts.

Sleek, sturdy packaging

The product is contained in a green-tinted 100mL bottle made of sturdy plastic. The cap is transparent and closes firmly, while the nozzle head is gold-colored. It is not so travel-friendly due to its size and weight. The quality of the spray is superb. How so? It spritzes such a fine mist and you have total control over how much is dispensed—so precise that you can move the mist across your face mid-spray as well as concentrate on specific areas of your face without accidentally soaking the area. Fine and precise! Even the nozzle itself is sturdy—I've dropped this once and the top part of the spray head came off, but I just popped it back in place and the quality of the spray was completely unaffected, which was a huge relief. It's not so travel-friendly, but take note that its main claims are being part of a skincare routine and as a makeup-fixing mist so perhaps it was truly not intended as an on-the-go product.

How did it work for me?

After a mere two days of incorporating this as a toner and mid-day mist, my irritated and itchy skin felt softer, more plump, and soothed.

I also noticed that my dry patches in recently spot-treated areas disappeared, making for smoother makeup application. My bare skin now also looks brighter and overall healthier compared to its dullness and rough texture before I introduced this.

In conclusion, I can easily say that this is the best face mist I have ever tried so far! Other face mist brands I have tried include Top-O, Human Nature, and Bench, and while Top-O did great in the soothing department and all were no-nonsense hydrators, none really gave me that glow nor seemed to have a lasting effect on my skin.

The Da Mior Bamboo Face Mist lives up to its claims, is versatile, is perfectly-packaged, and a little goes a long way. You would be getting your money's worth even with the $43 (P2,150) price tag, but at the time of writing IT WAS ON SALE for $29.99 (P1,500)—so watch out! Follow this link if you're interested in buying this! You just might catch a Free Shipping promo.

Will I repurchase?

First of all, to call this a "repurchase" would be dishonest because this product was provided to me for free by CHARIS in exchange for a review. That said, I can honestly say that given I have enough extra cash when this runs out (because for the most part, I have to admit that skincare is a luxury), I would not hesitate to buy a bottle for myself. Since incorporating this into my routine, I consider this an essential or necessity even beyond the famous Cure Aqua Gel.

The mist is exemplary in terms of hydrating and moisturizing; ph-balancing and preparing my skin to absorb more skincare; soothing and nourishing; and imparting a glow to my skin, which suffered roughness and dullness for several months. I am only 22 so I could not observe the anti-aging effects and I use this alongside the Hada Labo Shirojyun Lotion so I cannot fully attribute skin-brightening to this face mist, but my skin definitely loved this and felt plumper and more hydrated after every use.

Overall Rating: (4.2 out of 5 Stars)

Packaging/Applicator (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐): The bottle is extremely sturdy, while the nozzle dispenses the perfect mist volume and intensity. While a 100mL bottle may be less than ideal for an on-the-go face mist, the sturdiness of the bottle is more than reassuring if you're worried about damage while it's kept in a bag with other stuff. I am not aware if this comes in a smaller size.

Ingredients (⭐⭐⭐⭐½): The key ingredient is high on the list and I like how it contains a whole variety of skin-loving extracts with similar functions as bamboo. It's also fragrance-free! However, this has an alcohol at third in the ingredients list, and very sensitive skin types may not fare completely well with that.

Suitability with other products (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐): As a mist, this is very lightweight and can easily be layered underneath, in between, and over other skincare products, whether in your daytime or nighttime routine. It can also be used to smooth and set your makeup. It is an incredibly versatile skincare product

Delivery of claims (⭐⭐⭐⭐): This fully met its claims of moisturizing and making my skin "illuminate!" However, I was not able to gauge its anti-aging effects nor its skin-brightening, so I deducted one star in case that is the reader's main concern. Also, while it gave my makeup a radiant, natural-glow finish, I did not notice any significant improvement in terms of longevity of my makeup; oil control was also not a standout effect.

Affordability and accessibility (⭐⭐½): While affordability of products may vary from individual to individual, this definitely would burn a hole in my pocket even at its sale price because it is not available locally, in the Philippines. With daily use and layering of this mist as a toner, a bottle would probably last less than two months, and longer if you really only use it as a makeup setting spray.
